With the Rhein bath towel, Atelier Agave celebrates Atelier Agave in the river—whether in the Rhine in Basel, right in the heart of the city, or through untamed nature. Designed by Joel Adank, it pays homage to summer days by the water and that special feeling of lying on the shore after a swim.

The Rhein bath towel measures 90 x 160 cm and is made of lightweight, absorbent 100% cotton muslin. It’s perfect as a bath towel for swimming in rivers, as a beach towel at the lake, or for trips to the pool, and folds up small for easy transport.

Soft muslin fabric

I decided against terry cloth or a fouta and opted for a Turkish towel (pestemal) because the fabric is very comfortable and provides a bit of cushioning, especially on wooden or concrete surfaces.

Convenient size: 90x160

Wide enough to lie on comfortably, short enough to fit on any beach chair. When folded, the towel fits neatly into any beach bag.

Lightweight & Absorbent

Muslin fabric is very lightweight, absorbs moisture well, and, most importantly, dries much faster than a terry cloth towel. That makes this bath towel the perfect summer companion.

The theme of rivers and summer at the pool

For this collection, I drew inspiration in particular from the iconic meandering courses of Switzerland’s (swimming) rivers and the classic things that define summer—a cool ice cream or a refreshing lemonade.
