From the idea to the finished product: our manufacturing process

First drafts in the studio

Joel is the creative mind in the studio: he sits down at the potter's wheel, makes a sketch or a wooden sample of the idea. Then it's time for testing!

... and back to the kitchen!

The self-made prototypes are tested: Sometimes it turns out in everyday life that a well-intentioned idea is completely impractical or the wrong size.

Only when we have used our dishes a few dozen times do we decide what we want to mass-produce.

For the production we rely on our partner company in Portugal: There, beautiful, very high quality tableware has been produced for generations.

We travel to our producers with our best prototypes in our luggage

A mold is created for series production

Our design goes into production! By using molds, not only does the process become efficient, but we also ensure that each piece is true to Joel's original design.

Portuguese ceramics handicraft

We attach great importance to building personal relationships with the people who make our tableware. That is why we work with a small workshop near Nazaré on the Atlantic coast of Portugal. In this region, ceramics have been made for generations!

More on the topic

We have intensively studied ceramics and spent a lot of time with our producers in Portugal. Because we find the topic very exciting ourselves, we thought we'd answer some questions that we asked ourselves at the beginning.
